Only a few days after becoming bonafide web personalities (rabbit-alities), Bunny and Cash have made it in print, with an exclusive interview in the award-winning Examiner (Independence, MO), Missouri Press Association’s newspaper of the year.

Sacre Couer! — Paris, France

Standing near the Sacre Couer cathedral, Cash was taken aback by the beauty of the Paris skyline.  She was shaking with excitement, saying “I can’t believe how lucky a rabbit I am to have the chance to come to such a beautiful and romantic city.”

She leaned over to hug Bunny, who tried to edge away. Bunny didn’t care about the scenery or the gorgeous church architecture. But she did try to persuade a street performer that she could “totally be a back-up dancer for him.”

She especially enjoyed it when he played “Hit the Road Jack.” She still has bitter feelings about the cute Jackrabbit she dated in college, who is now married, lives in a nice hutch in the suburbs and has three adorable little bunny-kids who are honor-roll students at a magnet school.

Must Be the Money — Istanbul, Turkey

We were really afraid we had been robbed.  Our passports, money and other important documents were all missing.  We looked everywhere for them, before finally finding Bunny, wearing our moneybelt, parading back and forth in front of the mirror rapping “Hey, must be the money!”

We were not amused and told her that a) she should never play with our money and b) she has a horrendous singing voice. She didn’t care.

Kitchi-Kitchi Ya-Ya Ta-Ta — Paris, France

Every time we asked Bunny where she most wanted to go in Paris, she started humming the theme from the Baz Luhrmann film Moulin Rouge and asking us if we thought she looked like the pop star Pink. We indulged this fantasy of hers and took her to the site of the real Moulin Rouge where she promptly started can-can dancing and asking bystanders how they felt about “truth, love and beauty”. We decided as long as she didn’t start soliciting for absinthe, we were ok.

Cash, on the other hand, was less impressed. She hid behind her ears almost the entire time and kept whispering “is it almost time for dinner?” and “don’t you think we better head to the next thing?” Unfortunately, it was difficult to hear everything Cash was saying over Bunny’s catcalls and dancing. She did allow us to take this one photo of her.

Bunny Thinks She’s a Princess — Istanbul, Turkey

We took Bunny to Topkapi Palace in Istanbul and she was under the mistaken impression that we were actually going to allow her to stay there permanently. She kept making comments about how this was “finally a step up from that awful dorm room we’ve been living in”.

Bunny’s Expensive Tastes — Istanbul, Turkey

Despite my insistent reminders to Bunny that we needed to be careful about our budget in Turkey, she somehow managed to splurge on a $6 styrofoam cup of hot chocolate.

Bunny the Cafe Bum — Istanbul, Turkey

Bunny seemed to love lounging on the table watching people walk by in the busy neighborhood of Sultanahmet in Istanbul. Emily’s friend Suzanne and Emily begged her to please hurry up but she seemed insistent that we were on vacation and “vacations are never hurried.” Bunny did seem slightly tired after her wild night of belly-dancing the preceding evening. She claimed she was “getting to know the locals – the local way”.

Bunny on the Lookout for Sailors — Dubrovnik, Croatia

Though she kept complaining that it smelled of fish, it was Bunny’s idea that we come down to the harbor.  She had heard rumor of hot sailor rabbits and spent hours putting on make-up before dragging us to the pier to keep an eye out for them.

Bunny Writes Postcard — Florence, Italy

Now you might consider it out of character for Bunny to write a postcard.  She’s not well-known for being a considerate friend. We were certainly surprised when Bunny handed it to us and asked us to send it for her…that is until we turned it over and read it. This is what it said:

“Dear Hotel —–,
I’m writing you on this stupid postcard cuz I couldn’t find any notepaper.  The service was appalling at your establishment — room service took forever and there was no bowl of M&Ms on the coffee table, despite my request in advance.  So I trashed the room and drank all the Red Bull in the mini-bar.  Deal with it.  My lawyer will be in touch shortly.”

Needless to say, we did not send the postcard.

Florence Cathedral — Italy

While Bunny thought it was ‘awesome’ to be up so high, she thought ‘all that stupid architecture stuff was sooo boring.’  She entertained herself by pretending to be about to throw herself off the balony, almost giving us a heart attack.  She thought that was really funny.  We didn’t.
